"Mesopotamia" is basicly where civilizations were born and some regions of Turkey are situated in the borders of it. Mesopotamian culture, all its traditions are still alive between the rivers of Tigris (Dicle) and Euphrates (Fırat). In the plane of Harran, Adam and Eve were created. Before moving to Promised Land the prophet Abraham lived here. Mardin Midyat is the place, where Aramaic language spoken by Jesus, is still in use while praying to the God. Breath-taking Nemrut Mountain with its statues may be the 8th wonder of the world. When it comes to Turkish cuisine, Gaziantep is an exceptional place where one can taste the delicious foods and sweets. Antioch once was the third biggest city of the Roman Empire and today is one of the rare places where Muslims, Jews and Christians live side by side in peace.
Day 1 – Arrival to Istanbul and Overnight
Arrival to Istanbul and transfer to hotel. Walk to a local restaurant for welcome dinner. Overnight in Istanbul
Day 2 – Fly to Mardin & Full Day Tour
Morning flight to Mardin by Turkish Airlines and transfer to our hotel in old town. Mardin is home to Syrian-Orthodox christians and we will visit their Monastery of Deir-Al-Zafaran. Later on we will strol through the old streets and visit Kasimiye Madrasa, Sultan Isa (Jesus) Madrasa of 1385, Ulu Mosque of 1176, Kirklar Church, Mardin Houses. We will return our hotel. Overnight in Mardin
Day 3 – Urfa
After breakfast, we will drive into Urfa, the city of prophets. It is the birth place of Prophet Abraham and now the city holds mosque, cave, beautiful gardens and pool that bear his name. After the lunch, we will visit Spahi Covered Bazaar where will see special handicrafts and small textile workshops. After strolling through old streets we will return to our hotel. Overnight in Urfa.
Day 4 – Urfa, Harran
We will drive to Harran to see beehive-shaped houses. Harran is the place where as stated in Old Testament Prophet Abraham lived before going to Promised Land. We will also see ancient city walls and gates. Later on we will visit Gobeklitepe which is 6000 years older than Pyramids. It has taken the Anatolian history about 2000 years back. Overnight in Urfa
Day 5 – Drive to Adiyaman, Nemrut
Following breakfast we will drive into Adiyaman. After checking in our hotel we will have a lunch and we will explore the ancient ruins and huge statues of kings and gods on Nemrut Mountain. Then we will return back to the city centre. Overnight in Adiyaman.
Day 6 – Drive to Gaziantep
After breakfast we will drive to Gaziantep which is famous for its cuisine. We will have a chance to try some special Turkish meals and sweets here. Later on we will visit Zeugma to see its outstanding mosaics. Overnight in Gaziantep.
Day 7 – Drive to Antioch
In the morning we will drive to the 3rd biggest city of the Roman Empire and became the capital of the Roman Province of Syria in 64 BC. Today the city is the place where muslims, jews and christians live together. We will visit famous mosaic museum and walk in old streets of Antioch. Overnight in Antioch.
Day 8 – Antioch, Titus Tunnel, Daphne
Following the breakfast we will visit the Aqueduct of Titus. After the lunch we will drive to Harbiye (Daphne). During the day it will be possible to visit silk weaving workshop where you can buy plane natural color silk material. We will be walking through the old streets and see the spices as well as cold stone-pressed olive oils. Overnight in Antioch.
Day 9 – Drive to Adana & Fly to Istanbul
After breakfast we will drive to Adana, one of the most fertile areas of Turkey. We will have an exceptional lunch in Adana and eat traditional "kebaps". Later on we will go to the airport for the afternoon flight to Istanbul. After arrival transfer to our hotel in Istanbul. Dinner is on your own. Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 10 – Fly back Home
Transfer to Istanbul Ataturk Airport for the flight back home.
